Pillar Church Membership Covenant

Trusting that we have been brought by God’s grace to repent, trust, and follow the Lord Jesus Christ, and having been baptized as a profession of our faith, we joyfully affirm this covenant with one another, relying on God’s gracious aid.

Love God

  • We will love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength.

  • We will pray and live to honor His name, seek first His kingdom, and accomplish His will on earth as it is in heaven.

  • We will demonstrate our love for Jesus by keeping His commands.

  • Mt. 22:37-38; Mt. 6:9-10; Jn. 14:15

Love One Another

  • We will commit to loving one another as Christ has first loved us.

  • We will seek to love through practicing the “one another” commands from Scripture.

  • We will use our gifts to serve in the local church, for the building up of the body of Christ and not our own interests.

  • Jn. 13:34; Rom. 12:10; 12:16; 14:19; Rom. 15:5,7,14; 16:16; 2:3-4; Col. 3:1,13,16; 1 Thes. 4:18; 5:11; Heb. 3:13; 10:24; 1 Pet. 4:9,10; 5:5; James. 5:16; Col. 3:9; Rom. 14:13; Gal. 5,15:26; Jms. 4:11; 5:9

Make Disciples

  • We will make disciples of all nations as Jesus commissioned, sharing the gospel with those outside our community, baptizing and teaching those who believe.

  • We will take responsibility for helping one another grow more fully into the image of Christ.

  • We will collectively affirm the faith of others by using the keys of the kingdom to bind and loosen as Jesus directed.

  • In humility and gentleness we will confront one another’s sin and submit ourselves to the discipline of the church, according to Christ’s teaching.

  • Mt. 28:18-20; Mt 18:17-18; Mt 7:1-6; 1 Cor 5;  Gal 6:1-2

Assemble Together

  • We will meet together regularly, prioritizing our corporate gatherings and not forsaking our assembling together.

  • We will gather for the purpose of worshiping God, seeking Him in prayer, hearing the teaching of His Word, and fellowshipping with the saints.

  • Heb 10:25; Acts 2:41-42

Be Holy

  • By God’s grace, we will strive to live holy lives, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts.

  • We will seek to walk by the Spirit, knowing that our old self was crucified with Christ and we have been raised to newness of life in Him.

  • We will regularly practice the confession of our sins, remembering that He is faithful and just to cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

  • 1 Pet. 1:16; Heb. 12:14-15; Titus 2:11-14; Gal 5:16-24; 1 Jn 1:9; Jm 5:16

Pursue Unity

  • We will be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

  • We will appoint and submit to the leadership of elders, entrusted by God to lead and care for this body by modeling and teaching the Word of Christ to us.

  • We will seek forgiveness when we have wronged one another, and we will forgive when we have been wronged.

  • Eph 4:1-6; Heb 13:17; Acts 6:1-7; 20:28-31; 1 Tim 3:1-13; 5:17-20; 1 Pet 5:1-4; Mt 6:14-15, 18:21-34; Eph 4:32

Give Generously

  • We will give cheerfully and generously to support the ministry of the church, the needs of others, and the worldwide advance of the gospel.

  •  2 Cor. 8:1-24; 9:6-11; 16:2; I Cor. 9:14; Gal. 6:6; 1 Tim. 5:8; Mt. 6:2

Faithfully Endure

  • And if we move from this local body, we will join another local church as soon as possible, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

  •  Heb. 10:25; Mt 24:10-13

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God our Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us always.
